JIO eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) is a new method for activating the JIO SIM within 15 minutes of buying it. It uses your Aadhaar Card for the activation process. It was announced by Mukesh Ambani during the annual grand meeting of reliance JIO.
How Normal Jio SIM Activation is Processed?
Earlier, if you prefer to get a JIO SIM card, you need to visit the nearest Reliance digital Store, Reliance Digital Xpress Mini. Apply for the SIM card using your 4G or VoLTE phone to generate a bar code by filling up the KYC (Know Your Customer) Form. After verification of your details like (like fingerprint/ Retina verification) at the JIO stores.
This process will take 3 to 5 business days as per Jio service. However, it took more than 15 days in several cases. Once you receive the Activation SMS, you need to call customer care and activate the Voice and data service.
How eKYC Works?
When JIO Sim card is activated using the eKYC method, it will be activated within 15 minutes. It primarily uses your Aadhaar card details for verification.

Customer gives Aadhaar to verifying person
The personnel feeds Aadhaar number to UIDAI server.
UIDAI server gives back details of the person

It just takes 15 minutes to activate your Jio SIM if you have Aadhaar card. Just carry the Aadhaar card with you when you reach the nearest Reliance Digital Jio Store or any authorized outlets.

This process can not be done for those persons without Aadhaar card.
